How to use Waterfox containers

Waterfox containers separate browsing activity into color-coded tabs for activities such as banking, work and personal browsing. Each container has separate cookies and site data, so you can use different accounts on the same website at the same time.

What are Waterfox containers?

Websites store data on your device to remember preferences, shopping carts and signed-in sessions. The same data can also be used to recognize you. Containers separate that data into independent browsing contexts.

For example, you can open one Reddit account in a Work container and another in a Personal container. The sessions remain separate even though both tabs are open in Waterfox.

Enable containers

1. Click the menu button and select Settings.
2. On the General page, go to the Tabs section.
3. Select Enable Container Tabs.

Open a new tab in a container

1. Right-click or long-click the New Tab button. On macOS, you can also hold Control while clicking.
2. Select a container.

Open a link in a new container tab

1. Right-click a link. On macOS, you can also hold Control while clicking.
2. Select Open Link in New Container Tab.
3. Select the container to use.

Manage your containers

You can open container settings in either of these ways:

• In Settings, open General, go to Tabs, then select Settings next to Enable Container Tabs.
• Right-click or long-click the New Tab button, then select Manage Containers.

From container settings, you can add, rename, recolor or remove containers.

Always show the container selection panel

To show the container menu whenever you select the New Tab button:

1. Open container settings using either method above.
2. Select Select a container for each new tab.
