Manage Waterfox extensions in Private Browsing
This article explains how to choose which Waterfox extensions can run in Private Browsing windows.
Info
Not every extension supports access to private windows.
Extensions in private windows
An extension allowed to run in a private window can access information from pages in that window, subject to its other permissions. Waterfox therefore does not enable Private Browsing access for extensions by default. Grant access only to extensions you trust.
An extension that is not allowed in Private Browsing should continue to work in regular windows unless it depends on private-window features.
Grant permission during installation
During installation, Waterfox may offer a checkbox that allows the extension to run in private windows. Depending on the installation flow, the option can appear in the permission prompt or in the confirmation after installation.
- To grant access, select Allow extension to run in private windows or Allow this extension to run in Private Windows, then finish the installation.
- To deny access, leave the option clear.
Enable or disable an installed extension in private windows
- Click the menu button and select Add-ons and Themes.
- Select Extensions.
- Select the extension you want to manage.
- Next to Run in Private Windows, select Allow or Don’t Allow.
Close the Add-ons Manager tab when you are finished.
