Your browser is being managed by your organization
You may see the message Your browser is being managed by your organization at the top of Waterfox Settings.
This usually means that Waterfox settings are controlled by rules applied to the device by a network administrator, security software, or a local policy. These rules are called enterprise policies and may lock or hide some browser features.
What this message means
Waterfox shows the message when one or more active policies affect browser settings. It does not mean that Waterfox is broken.
Why policies may be active
Policies may be present when:
- A work or school administrator manages the device
- Antivirus, parental-control, or security software sets browser policies
- You or another device user configured local policies
See which policies are active
- Open the Waterfox menu and select Settings.
- Click Your browser is being managed by your organization at the top of the page.
- Review the Policy Details page.
You can also enter about:policies in the address bar. The Active tab lists applied policies, and the Documentation tab describes available policies.
What to do next
On a work or school device, contact the administrator before changing managed software or policy settings.
On a personal device:
- Review the active policies
- Check recently installed antivirus, parental-control, or security software
- Adjust or uninstall that software if you do not want it to manage Waterfox
- Review any policy files or system settings that you configured manually
