Turn Picture-in-Picture mode controls on and off
Picture-in-Picture pops a video out of its page into a floating window that stays on top while you work in other tabs or applications.
Use Picture-in-Picture
Hover over a video and select the Picture-in-Picture toggle that appears over it. The video moves into a floating window with its own play, pause and seek controls.
To put it back, select the return control on the floating window or close the window.
Hide the hover control
If you would rather not see the toggle when hovering over videos:
- Click the menu button, then select Settings.
- Select Tabs and browsing.
- Scroll to the Media section.
- Clear Use Picture-in-Picture.
Check the box again to bring the control back.
Tip
Turning off the hover control does not remove the feature. You can still start Picture-in-Picture by right-clicking a video and selecting it from the context menu. On macOS you can also hold Control while clicking.
