Change the tab and toolbar layout in Waterfox

Waterfox can place the horizontal tab bar above or below the navigation toolbar, move it to the bottom of the window, and move the bookmarks toolbar between the top and bottom of the window. These choices apply immediately to every open Waterfox window.

Open the toolbar position settings

1. Click the Waterfox menu button and select Settings.
2. Select Tabs and browsing.
3. Find Waterfox tabs, then open the Toolbar positions section.

Choose the tab bar position

Use Tab bar position to choose one of these layouts:

• Above the navigation toolbar places the tab bar near the top of the window. This is the default.
• Below the navigation toolbar places the tab bar at the bottom of the top toolbar area.
• At the bottom, above the status bar places the tab bar near the bottom of the window, before the Waterfox status bar.
• At the bottom, below the status bar places the tab bar at the bottom edge, after the Waterfox status bar.

The last two choices can look the same when the status bar is hidden.

Choose the bookmarks toolbar position

Use Bookmarks toolbar position to select Top or Bottom. Top is the default.

This setting changes the toolbar’s position, not whether it is visible. If the bookmarks toolbar is hidden, changing its position has no visible effect until you show it. When both the bookmarks toolbar and tab bar are at the bottom, Waterfox places the bookmarks toolbar above the tab bar.

How vertical tabs affect this setting

Tab bar position controls only the horizontal tab strip. Waterfox disables this control while Vertical tabs is selected in Browser layout. Enabling tree tabs also enables vertical tabs, so it disables the horizontal position control as well.

Waterfox keeps your selected horizontal position while vertical tabs are active. If you switch back to Horizontal tabs, the tab bar returns to that position. The bookmarks toolbar position remains available in either tab layout.
